From Concepts to Implementation – Health Economics and Financing for Universal Health Coverage in Kuwait concluded yesterday at the UN House. The learning event was co-chaired by Dr. Maitham Husain, Director, Planning Directorate, MOH, and Dr. Assad Hafeez, WHO Representative. Through a mix of interactive learning tools and processes, with tailored applications to the Kuwait context, participants were introduced to health economics and financing concepts and tools that can contribute to better policy, planning, and resource use to support progress on UHC. The event was facilitated by Mr. Henrik Axelson, P4H Network Country Focal Person and WHO consultant, and Dr. Faraz Khalid, Technical Officer, Coordination for UHC, WHO. The Kuwait University School of Public Health, the International Labour Organization, the International Organization for Migration, and the P4H Network co-facilitated the event. The learning event was part of a broader effort to support health financing reforms and policy in Kuwait, including the establishment of a Health Economics and Financing Unit in the Planning Directorate of MOH.
