The EU Humanitarian Aid donated a grant to UNICEF to help relieve Central African countries that were hit especially hard with COVID-19, one of which was Lesotho. Children suffered the greatest impact, as schools shut down for months, and they were forced into labor and marriage. The funding was primarily meant to finance vaccination in the region, given that only 6% of the African population was fully vaccinated. By doing so, it allowed the population, especially children, to be able to resume their activities, mainly school.
