The joint GAVI Alliance mission to Abidjan took place from September 10 to 14. Joint missions are a review and pre-programming of Alliance support, including technical support. WHO, Unicef and the World Bank are all members of the Alliance. Côte d’Ivoire is about to enter the so-called “accelerated transition” phase, and must therefore gradually take over the Alliance’s support from domestic funding. This is an opportunity to take a step back and look at “IVD” (vaccine-preventable diseases) funding in relation to general health funding.
