Gavi, the global vaccine alliance, is appealing to its donors to allow the reallocation of billions in unspent COVID-19 funds to support its upcoming five-year funding cycle, aiming to secure a record budget. According to Development Today, Gavi seeks USD 9 billion in new funding while simultaneously negotiating with donors to repurpose existing COVID-19 allocations. CEO Sania Nishtar, speaking in Oslo, confirmed that these discussions are being held on a country-by-country basis to ensure continued support for vaccine distribution and global immunization efforts.
