US$50 million were transferred to the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IESS), the state entity in charge of health care for thousands of members.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance of Ecuador confirmed the transfer of US$ 50 million to IESS. The transferred funds will be used for medical care for workers and retirees. This is due to reported problems due to lack of supplies, medicines and even appointments for specialists in recent months.
