The Head of State, Mr. Ismaiïl Omar Guelleh, chaired the 8th session of the Council of Ministers on May 14, 2024, during which the Djibouti executive examined a draft decree on the conditions for opening and operating private health establishments.
This text adopted by the Government of Djibouti also sets technical standards for medical equipment to ensure accessibility, availability and quality of care. Private-sector healthcare facilities are considered complementary to public-sector establishments, and participate in the provision of healthcare under the conditions set out in Law n°48/AN/99/4ème L on the Orientation of Health Policy.
They play a significant role in providing medical services that complement the public health system. They are also responsible for providing high-quality medical and health services accessible to the entire population.
The draft decree on the conditions for opening and operating private health establishments sets out the conditions for opening and operating private health establishments, and also lays down technical standards for medical equipment to ensure accessibility, availability and quality of care. This initiative stems from the conclusions of the June 2022 National Health Symposium.
