Guinea-Bissau will benefit from $20.4 million in financing from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This was announced in a press release published on January 25, 2021.
The new financing has been granted as part of a rapid credit facility (RCF), the aim of which is to help the government meet urgent budgetary and balance of payments needs arising from the covid-19 pandemic. It will also meet the need for increased spending on health, social protection and investment to support Guinea-Bissau’s economic recovery.
To emerge from this crisis while improving the economy’s resilience to future shocks, the institution is calling on the Guinea-Bissau authorities to improve their health investments.
