Health system measures in Dominican Republic – COVID-19 – June 2020

The health system measures put into place in Dominican Republic to contain the spread of COVID-19 are:

* No cost of testing COVID19 to test people that (1) have two or more symptoms, (2) are older than 59 y-o, and (3) have a weak health condition.

* Selection of 2 hospitals to receive positive or suspected patients, and creation of isolation areas in 15 health centers. Measures to assist the pharmaceutical industry to support the production and import of essential drugs and supplies, so as to guarantee supplies at reasonable prices [since March 17].

* Minister of Health announces new appointment system, by telephone or Aurora MSP, to perform PCR tests more quickly and efficiently [announced on June 23].
