Health system measures in Ethiopia – COVID-19 – June 2020

The health system measures put into place in Ethiopia to contain the spread of COVID-19 are:

*May 27: A field hospital is being constructed on the outskirt of Addis Ababa and is expected to start operating in the next 10 days. The field hospital will be used as training centre for emergency medical response teams.

*April 25: Ethiopia launched a door-to-door testing across the country, and expanded its daily testing capacity to 4000 corona virus samples per day, with 20 labs operating nationwide. Door-to-door testing started in Addis Ababa on 13 April.

*April 13: Launch of the door-to-door temperature screening in 117 districts of the capital city. Addis Ababa city also launched its school feed programme with 1200 food banks (30,000 youth volunteers will be mobilised to deliver this programme).
