Health system measures in Guinea Bissau – COVID-19 -/05/2020

The health system measures put into place in Guinea Bissau to contain the spread of COVID-19 are:

*March 21: The Central Bank for West African States (BCEAO) has introduced measures to promote the use of electronic payments.

*March 20: The Government has created a multi-sectoral committee that will work with the WHO.

*Emergency health measures of XOF 485 million (USD 0.8 million or 0.06% of GDP) have been spent to supply the Ministries of Health, Home Affairs and Defence. These were focused on upgrading the main national hospital, and providing medicines, food, and medical equipment. The authorities are seeking support from multilateral donors to finance additional expenses.
