Health system measures in Paraguay – COVID-19 – July 2020

The health system measures put into place in Paraguay to contain the spread of COVID-19 are:

* March 26: The emergency package includes health-related spending for doubling beds for intensive care, investment in hospital supplies, acquisition of more reagents to increase testing, a bonus for health professionals and the provision of care centers for affected patients. The planned envelope for the health system is 514 USD million and the constitution of a specific Emergency Health Fund in planned to channel resources

* March, 25: The government has lowered VAT on medical supplies to 5% and eliminated import tariffs on them

* March 19: The government has put all sanitary response to the Covid-19 epidemic in the public sector under the coordination of the Ministry of Health
*March 16: Through presidential decree 3456/2020, a state of health emergency was declared.
