Health system measures in Sierra Leone – COVID-19 -/05/2020

The health system measures put into place in Sierra Leone to contain the spread of COVID-19 are:

*April 22: The government announced its plans to include incentives for healthcare workers (including a risk allowance, life insurance and compensation for living expenses when in-field) as part of the health response under development

*March 31: The authorities have appointed a lean Government of Sierra Leone Covid-19 Response team.
*March 18: Activation of the Emergency Operation Centre to Level 2: development of the Sierra Leone Covid-19 Emergency and Preparedness Plan which focuses primarily on strengthening surveillance at the 3 official points of entry, improving case management and conducting effective campaigns at the national, subnational and community levels. It will support the prevention, detection and response to the threat posed by the virus, and will finance the provision of medical supplies, laboratory diagnostic equipment, including test kits in the designated health facilities; activation of the emergency contact number.
