Health system measures in Thailand – COVID-19 – July 2020

The health system measures put into place in Thailand to contain the spread of COVID-19 are:

 

– On 12 May, the Thai Cabinet approved an additional recruitment of 38,105 public health-related posts, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The frontline medical and public health personnels to the Covid-19 pandemic will receive an additional monthly allowance between THB 1,000-1,500 for seven months.

– On 17 March, the cabinet approved the budget of 6.3 billion THB from central funds reserved for emergencies to ease and response to the impact of Covid-19. The budget will be allocated to seven line ministries and 14 government agencies.

– The Ministry of Public Health distributed 1,000,000 surgical masks per day to the hospitals. Additional 1.5 million N95 masks and 1.9 million personal protective equipment (PPE) will also be allocated. In addition, the Ministry will supply 40,000 pills of Favipiravir and 220 doses of Remdesivir for the Covid-19 treatment.
