On September 27 and 28, 2021, an important workshop was held in Gitega, the political capital of Burundi, chaired by the 2nd Vice-President of the Senate, in the presence of Madame the Minister of National Solidarity, Social Affairs, Human Rights and Gender. The purpose of this session was to inform parliamentarians about the strategic and legal framework of Social Protection, its achievements and the challenges ahead. For the WHO intervention, CFP P4H briefed parliamentarians on the concept of Universal Health Coverage and the challenges facing the country, notably that of pooling the various health coverage mechanisms, and the institutional arrangements that go with them, to increase coverage and financial protection for the population.
