Maputo hosted on 28th and 29th August an International Conference on Health Financing and Public Financial Management in Health Systems, organized by the Civil Society Support Forum (MASC).
Researchers, policy-makers and Civil Society members debated around user fees, public-private partnerships, and shared experiences such as the Brazilian “Sistema Único de Saúde”, or the Nigerian experience and recommendations offered by thevHealth Economist from WHO Nigeria Country Office.
The Mozambican Ministry of Health presented policy options to transit from payment at facility level, to pre-payment. Mozambique has low OOP compared to other countries in Africa, but they are increasing as hospitals gain autonomy.
