International Scientific and Practical Conference “Health Technology Assessment: Perspectives of Integration in the Commonwealth of Independent States”

On June 27-28, International Scientific and Practical Conference “Health Technology Assessment: Perspectives of Integration in the Commonwealth of Independent States”, was held in Moscow, Russia.

Within the first day of the conference the panel discussion “Organization and Financing Oncological Aid: World Best Practices” was conducted. This was the first joint event of the Center for Healthcare Quality Assessment and Control and P4H.

Leading foreign cancer specialists and experts in healthcare financing from WHO, P4H, National Institute of Public Health (Slovenia), Cancer Institute (Israel), Korean Health Economics Association as well as representatives of the Russian Federal and Regional authorities and the medical community participated in the discussion. Following topics were covered at the panel discussion: approaches for improving healthcare organization in oncology, achieving goals of the National Healthcare project in terms of the Cancer program in Russia, approaches for improving oncology education and issues of public-private partnership in Russia.

The second day of the conference was dedicated to developing health technology assessment (HTA) in the CIS countries. Representatives of the CIS and EAEU countries such as Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan shared their experience in the HTA system development and clinical guidelines implementation.

Representatives of the Russian Federal and Regional authorities and the Federal Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund participated in the conference. Delegates from WHO, G-I-N, HTAi, EUnetHTA, INAHTA, NICE, MAGIC Fund, who also attended the conference, delivered a talk on international experience in HTA integration and clinical guidelines development and implementation.

The outcome of the conference was the decision to organize a workgroup on the development and harmonization of the HTA system in the CIS countries.
