Kenya's 2018-2022 Roadmap to Universal Health Coverage - P4H Network

Kenya’s 2018-2022 Roadmap to Universal Health Coverage

The Government of Kenya has shown commitment to  implementing Universal Health Coverage as one of its “Big Four Agenda” with the aim to ensure that all individuals and communities in Kenya have access to quality essential health services without suffering financial hardship. The UHC efforts are expected to “bring health and development efforts together and contribute to poverty reduction as well as building solidarity and trust”.

In order to guide the implementation of the UHC agenda in the health sector and the country at large, the Kenya UHC roadmap was developed. The process of developing the roadmap was consultative and participatory under the stewardship of the UHC coordination department in the Ministry of Health.

The roadmap was developed as important management and governance tool to assist the entire health sector in maintaining a clear focus and coordinated working approach towards the UHC goals.
