As part of the operationalization of the National Strategy for Universal Health Coverage in Chad, a fifteen-strong working group was set up to define baskets for each of the three health insurance schemes.
The group’s work was launched on December 08, 2017 during a workshop organized by the Cellule Interministérielle de Coordination with financial and technical support from the P4H network.
Chaired by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Health, this first meeting of the working group was marked by three presentations:
- Presentation of the group’s terms of reference,
- Presentation of a document on health insurance in Chad,
- The methodology for determining the basket of care within the framework of a national health insurance system.
Following the kick-off workshop, the Working Group adopted its work plan during meetings held on December 19 and 20, 2017. During the same meetings, the group drew up a list of healthcare services available at each level of the health pyramid in Chad.
The rest of the work is scheduled for January 2018, and will take place in three workshops of three days each, on January 9, 10 and 11 for the first, January 17, 18 and 19 for the second and January 29, 30 and 31 for the last.
