The Collège de France will host the inaugural lecture of Nathalie Bajos, Research Director at Inserm and Director of Studies at EHESS, on Thursday, April 3, 2025. Her lecture, titled “The Social Production of Health Inequalities,” will take place at the Marguerite de Navarre amphitheatre on the Marcelin Berthelot site from 6 to 7 p.m. The event is open to the public, subject to available seating.
Health inequalities are a universal and persistent reality, shaped by social determinants such as education level, occupation, income, and place of residence. In her talk, Nathalie Bajos will offer a sociological approach to analyzing these inequalities, highlighting how they are embedded in social structures and power relations linked to gender, class, and ethno-racial origin. She will also emphasize the importance of studying health practices through the lens of life trajectories, taking into account the interaction between biological and social factors.
This event is part of the Collège de France’s annual Public Health Chair and offers an essential reflection on the issues of social justice in health.
