In June, 2021 stakeholders in the health sector engaged the parliamentary committee on health to lobby for more funding to the sector to ensure that health facilities are equipped with adequate drugs and other medical items, personnel and infrastructure. The Malawi health equity network executive director George Jobe suggested that government should consider introducing levies on toll gates, beer and tobacco, to support health financing since they put pressure on health resources. Adequate resources to the sector means that all people will have equal access to quality care putting the country on the path to attaining universal health coverage.
