Based in Ségou since 2002, the mutualité is a voluntary health insurance organization that works to improve the quality of healthcare and access to health services for non-civil servant populations. Based on the principles of solidarity, non-profit and social movement, among others, the operational unit of the Union technique de la mutualité malienne de Ségou covers 9 first-level health centers, 1 second-level health center, a hospital and 9 private pharmacy dispensaries to date.
The Mutualité, which is now up and running in Ségou (a town 240 km from the capital), aims to be a local, mutual aid, solidarity and provident service. The Mutuelle de Santé Interprofessionnelle de Ségou accepts as members any person who accepts and shares the mutualist spirit, who respects the texts in force and submits to the payment of 2500 F as membership fee and the contribution of 6 900 F CFA per person per year, including 3 450 CFA francs paid by the State.
