The Caisse nationale de solidarité sanitaire (CNASS) continues to expand throughout the country. On November 5, the municipality of Arafat launched the distribution of 10,000 health insurance cards to vulnerable groups.
The mayor of the Arafat commune, Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Ahmed Jeddou, stressed that the ceremony to distribute insurance cards to 10,000 citizens of his commune was part of the implementation of the President of the Republic’s electoral program called ” My ambition for the homeland “, which makes social action one of the main pillars for building a strong and integrated society, where everyone enjoys their social rights and interests.
Present at the ceremony, Mme Amal Mint Sidi Ould Cheikh Abdallahi, General Manager of the Caisse nationale de solidarité sanitaire (CNASS), said that the Caisse had made great strides since its creation, with the number of members approaching the 200,000 mark. She also said that the Caisse’s agencies and branches had recorded a high turnout of citizens renewing their membership for the second year of implementation, after thousands had benefited last year from the almost free treatment services provided by the membership card. Online registration on the Caisse’s “insured” lists via the CNASS digital platform is now possible. This will enable citizens to access the Fund’s services without having to travel, and the Mauritanian diaspora to contribute to the care of their loved ones.
