The Ministry of Health, development partners and civil society are finalizing the joint process to review and extend the Strategic Plan, which will cover the period 2020-24.
The adaptations will be focused on areas that have experienced relevant advancements, such as health financing policy, the definition of a benefit package for the National Health Service, and the mapping of all health units and their characteristics in the SARA report (2020). Complementary areas to develop have been identified, especially the integrated planning of infrastructures, human resources, pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
The updated plan will take into consideration the need for an integrated approach to prevent and tackle emerging environmental threats and pandemics, such as Covid-19, as well as the increasing relevance of Non-Communicable Diseases in Mozambique.
Structural aspects included in the proposal will be the advancements in the decentralization process, and actions proposed to enhance efficiency in resources allocation and use.
