Mozambique’s Ministry of Health issues its first PEFA Strategy

Mozambique’s Ministry of Health has launched its PEFA strategy to respond to challenges identified in the PEFA report (2020).

In the PEFA diagnostic, the area that presents more challenges is credibility of the budget, especially execution of funds and of revenue collection.  Transparency has improved, but the main challenge are revenue transiting out of national systems as well as public access to fiscal information in the sector.

Planned actions include diagnostic of revenues in the health sector, closure of bank accounts out of the Single Treasury Account, monitoring of debts, economic analysis of infrastructure investment, reform of the planning and budgeting system, strengthening of planning capacities, improvement of monitoring and accountability of in-kind donations, strengthening of procurement processes, improvement transparency of public information.
