New Zealand’s 2024 health budget prioritizes frontline health services and workers to ensure healthcare access for all citizens.
The top three new health investments (operating and capital) include: (1) hospital and specialist services, (2) primary, community, and public health, and (3) access to medicine through the Pharmaceutical Management Agency.
The budget will support service delivery across the primary and hospital healthcare systems, including general practitioners (GPs), mental and community health services, aged care, elective surgery, and other specialist services. In addition, the budget will place to retain essential frontline workers.
