Update on the National Social Health Insurance (NSHI) in Nepal
- The NSHI Policy has been endorsed by the cabinet on June 2014
- The NSHI Guideline has been approved by the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP) and sent to the cabinet for endorsement last week.
- The NSHI Act is in process of drafting
- The NSHI office has been set up in Kathmandu with 10 staff and in the implementing districts (Ilam, Baglung and Kailali) with 4 staff in each district
- Customization of the Insurance Management Information System (IMIS) in Nepalese context
- Training of local MOHP IT personnel on IMIS – on-going (16.09 – 24.09.2014)
- MOHP/NSHI team is planning a study tour visit to Philippines National Health Insurance on 5-12 October 2014
- Joint Secretary proposed to start enrolment of the family in the NSHI from 17th November 2014 (1 Mangsir 2071 BS)
- Currently GIZ, WHO and KOICA are on board supporting the MOHP/NSHI
