The Public Sector Budget Law for Fiscal Year 2024 allocated resources to finance the continuity of Universal Health Insurance policies in Peru.
In 2024, 25 million insured members of the Seguro Integral de Salud (SIS) will be guaranteed the financing of their preventive, recuperative and rehabilitative care, in a comprehensive and free manner, in public health facilities of the Ministry of Health and regional governments nationwide.
The SIS covers more than 12,000 diseases, including various types of cancer, chronic, rare or orphan kidney diseases, Covid-19, mental health, chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, infectious diseases such as dengue, malaria; the entire process of pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium, as well as emergency transfers, burial benefits and food for pregnant women in maternity homes.
