Two papers throw light on the provisions for strategic purchasing of health services in Egypt under the universal health insurance (UIH) law and highlight the requirement for more clarity on the subject for effective implementation (Egypt plans to progressively implement the law throughout the country by 2032). Another paper analyses the country’s response to handling the COVID 19 pandemic in context of the new UIH law and learnings that can inform further changes in the law. A fourth document evaluates five sources of health financing in Egypt to determine its progressivity and recommend reforms for greater access to healthcare.
