R4D strengthens health policy and systems research ecosystem in Asia

R4D’s Health Systems Strengthening Accelerator is enhancing health policy and systems research (HPSR) in Asia by building a stronger ecosystem to translate evidence into policy action.

R4D, through the Health Systems Strengthening Accelerator, is working to empower research institutions in Asia to play a more significant role in generating evidence for health policy and systems research. Collaborating with the WHO Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research and USAID, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between research institutions and policymakers, fostering improved collaboration, capacity building, and data-driven health systems change.

Over six years, the Accelerator has convened regional actors, conducted in-depth analyses of HPSR institutions across 27 countries and launched pilot models that align local institutions with national and regional health policy needs. These efforts have strengthened connections between research institutions, expanded their capacity to translate evidence into actionable insights, and facilitated cross-country learning to drive sustainable health systems development.
