Russian Ministry of Healthcare is expanding coverage and access to medicines under Medicines-2025 strategy

Minister of Healthcare of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko held a meeting of the Board of the Ministry on provision of medicines. This committee regularly meets to ensure population access and coverage of medicines, including regularly expanding the list of publicly subsidized free medicines.

The Minister announced several innovations rolled out in the area of providing free medicines, including the introduction of electronic prescriptions in all Russian regions starting from 2023. Information technologies are already used to monitor the effectiveness and safety of vaccines and medicines.

The Minister also announced that plans include improvement of state registration and delivery of medicines, distance selling of medicines, improved management of medicine shortages, timely response to medicine defects, as well as improved regulation of pricing and licensing of medicines.
