Securing Singapore’s Access to Covid-19 Vaccines

Singapore’s Multi Ministry Taskforce (MTF) along with the World Health Organization and the country’s Heath Sciences Authority (HSA) has made procurement of vaccines along with quality checks their foremost agenda.

This includes signed Advance Purchase Agreements with Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech and Sinovac, while the government is in discussion with a few other pharmaceutical companies. Pfizer has indicated that the first batch of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines will arrive in Singapore by around the end of this month and will continue to arrive well into the next yeat.

Singapore is also a strong supporter and active participant in the work of the global COVID-19 Vaccine Global Access (COVAX) Facility and has entered into a Commitment Agreement to give them the right to purchase a certain amount of vaccines.

Vaccinations are going to be administered at no personal cost to all Singaporeans and long-term residents presumably by the end of 2021 albeit at high risk basis.
