Service initiative to reduce financial burden and increase accessibility in Bhutan

To reduce waiting time and travel cost of health services, the Service with Care and Compassion Initiative (SCCI) adopted from World Health Organization’s PEN-Hearts technical package* has been implemented in Bhutan. SSCI uses a patient centric approach.

Dagapela hospital becoming the fifth hospital which implements this program. Patients  could visit a hospital throughout the week and they do not have to travel to another city to receive health services. In addition, the service providers will consider the patient’s health background, family history, and lifestyle choices, and then provide treatment and counseling. In addition, this  program also enables access to health services among home-bound patients.
