The cabinet papers for the Health Financing Strategy & Single National Health Insurance Bill were returned by the Cabinet Secretariat to the Ministry early this year, with the request to clearly formulate the necessary policy requests/ changes that would be necessary as part of implementing the strategy. Main concerns were policy changes related to merging the different health insurances.
P4H partners are not involved in the cabinet paper development, as this is usually a government internal process in Tanzania.
Meanwhile an actuarial valuation to further inform the drafting of the SNHI Bill has been carried out by Ernest and Young consultants with support of a national consultant (funded by P4H partners: USAID & GIZ). The study is currently being completed and the final report and recommendations will be shared with the Ministry after 10th February 2017.
