Satus up-dates on the Tanzanian HFS Development by P4H Focal Person Tanzania:
In order to complete the HFS, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare involved Futures Group (currently undertaking also the costing for the HSSP IV) to conduct some additional fiscal space and minimum benefit package assessment, as well as an analysis on the contributions of potential additional tax levies for the sector. Find attached the summary of these assessments. With this additional information in hand the HFS document is now reviewed internally by the Ministry’s decision makers. In parallel the Health Financing Unit under the Directorate of Policy and Planning with assistance of the Cabinet Secretariat and supported by P4H is developing the cabinet paper needed for the HFS submission (in a 3-day government internal workshop this week).
The aim is still to submit the HFS for cabinet review before start of the Tanzanian election period this summer.
