Out of 81 cases examined by the Technical Department for Indigence and Health Infrastructures, 41 are now benefiting from free health care. In Matoto, one of the twelve communes that make up the city of Conakry, the Indigence Fund has handed out vouchers.
According to the Matoto Communal Director, in the very recent past, indigent patients faced enormous difficulties in accessing healthcare.
“The establishment of a reliable mechanism to ensure health care for indigent populations in Guinea meets a need for equity and justice. The health care vouchers that beneficiaries receive give them access to free health care, enabling them to regain their health. Today, this ceremony enabled 41 of the 87 cases examined to receive free care from the State.
The Fonds de Développement Social et de l’Indigence, or FDSI for short, is a public administrative body with legal personality and financial and management autonomy. It is placed under the technical supervision of the Ministry for the Promotion of Women, Children and Vulnerable Persons, and under the financial supervision of the Ministry in charge of Finance.
The FDSI is a key player in the fight against poverty and social exclusion in the Republic of Guinea. Its main mission is to design and implement socio-economic integration programs and social safety nets, as well as to improve access to healthcare for indigent people.
This humanitarian action is implemented by the General Management of the Social Development and Indigence Fund (FDSI), with the support of the Ministry for the Promotion of Women, Children and Vulnerable Persons.
