The Compulsory Health Insurance Fund of Azerbaijan cooperates with the State Health Insurance Fund of Uzbekistan

A memorandum on cooperation and mutual activity was signed between the State Agency for Compulsory Health Insurance (the Agency) of Azerbaijan and the State Health Insurance Fund of the Republic of Uzbekistan (the Fund). The memorandum was signed by the first leaders of the respective two organizations: from Azerbaijan — Zaur Aliyev, the Chairman of the Board of the Agency, and from Uzbekistan — Zoxid Ermatov, the Executive Director of the Fund.

The memorandum includes the establishment of partnership relations, effective and mutual cooperation between the two institutions. Within the memorandum, parties plan to implement joint measures to improve the compulsory health insurance system in their countries. The two funds reached an agreement to exchange experience on methods to monitor the quality of medical care, preferential drug provision, financial mechanisms, information technologies and other types of activities within compulsory health insurance, to work on issues of mutual interest, and to perform other activities together.

For information, the introduction of compulsory health insurance in Uzbekistan is implemented gradually with pilots started in several regions. From 2025, it is planned to introduce compulsory medical insurance in the entire territory of Uzbekistan. In Azerbaijan, the compulsory health insurance was launched nationwide since April 2021.
