October 2021 – March 2022
WHO together with the P4H country focal person held discussions with Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) UK, Oxford Policy Management (OPM) and the World Bank, in particular how a high-level policy dialogue between the government and relevant stakeholders can provide an important opportunity to reflect on the learnings from the current pandemic and concurrent emergencies, and discuss how to strengthen financing for pandemic preparedness and response. OPM is working together with the MOH to conduct operational research, with the aim of understanding how emergency health and nutrition financing can be most effectively allocated and spent in the medium and long term in Ethiopia. The OPM team had recently commenced the second phase of the project which entails an analysis at federal, regional, woreda, and health facilities levels to understand the sources of emergency financing for health and nutrition, allocation processes, and financial flows.
