The President of Kazakhstan questioned value for money in healthcare amid increased health spending in his annual address to the People of Kazakhstan

On September 2, 2024, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the need to strengthen public health and reform social health protection. He highlighted the 3.3 trillion tenge healthcare budget but questioned its effectiveness, calling for a unified state medical system for better oversight and efficiency.

President Tokayev highlighted 102 laws adopted by Parliament, covering public oversight, combating human trafficking, science and technology policy, and energy regulation. A strong emphasis was placed on social issues, particularly child protection, demonstrating the government’s commitment to improving the well-being of its citizens.

The President emphasized that Kazakhstan is undergoing a profound transformation, with fundamental reforms shaping a new political reality, legal culture, and social values. These changes reflect the aspirations of the people and reinforce the vision of a Fair Kazakhstan.

In his Address, President Tokayev introduced key initiatives focused on:

  • Ensuring sustainable economic growth and strengthening social policies
  • Aligning monetary and fiscal policies for balanced development
  • Enhancing the investment climate and business environment
  • Expanding industrial potential and addressing critical infrastructure challenges
  • Developing Kazakhstan’s workforce and human capital
  • Implementing comprehensive healthcare and social protection reforms
  • Advancing environmental sustainability and responsible resource management
  • Strengthening public governance efficiency and the rule of law

President Tokayev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to long-term stability, inclusivity, and prosperity, calling on citizens to remain united in achieving national progress.
