The Ivorian NGO held a press conference in February to denounce the low taxation in force in Côte d’Ivoire. For Tall Lacina, President of Clucod, this rate of 46% is still far from the community standards of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (Uemoa) and the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas).
The lecturer relies on directive n°01/2017/CM/Uemoa of December 2017 harmonizing the legislation of member states on excise duties applicable to tobacco, indeed recommends that the rate of excise duties on tobacco should be between 50% and 150%.
