Chaired by the Head of Government Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé, the first meeting of the steering committee for quality essential health services for universal health coverage, held on Thursday June 3, was attended by the World Bank’s Director of Operations for Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea and Togo.
The World Bank has pledged to support Togo’s efforts to achieve universal health coverage, with a budget of $70 million.
Achieving universal health coverage in Togo is a flagship program in the government’s roadmap. As a result, the country has taken another step towards universal health insurance, since the meeting’s proceedings led to the establishment of the institutional structure for coordinating universal health insurance, and the definition of the roles of each player.
