Strengthening and supporting community health mutuals means This is one of the challenges facing Andre Demba Wade, the newly appointed President of the Union nationale des mutuelles de santé communautaire du Sénégal. He was chosen at the end of a renewal general meeting held at Diourbel town hall, replacing Demba Mame Ndiaye from Diourbel.
Serigne Diouf, Director of Operations for the Agence nationale pour la couverture universelle (National Agency for Universal Health Coverage), who oversaw the general meeting, affirms that the Union nationale des mutuelles de santé communautaire (National Union of Community Health Mutuals) is making a major contribution to achieving the goal of Universal Health Coverage. According to him, ” the universal health coverage rate has risen from 48.6% in 2019 to 53% in 2020, despite the Covid-19 pandemic. In other words, we are very close to the 75% target set for 2021 .
