Uzbekistan allowed vaccinating children over 12 years old against coronavirus disease

In Uzbekistan, children over 12 years old will begin to be allowed to voluntarily vaccinate against coronavirus with the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine, accprding to the Ministry of Healthcare.

The decision is based on the results of clinical trials of the Pfizer vaccine in children aged 12-15 years, which have been shown to be effective and safe. Corresponding recommendation was given by the World Health Organization (WHO). 

Thus, by the decision of the Chief Sanitary Doctor of Uzbekistan and the National Technical and Immunological Expert Commission, children over 12 years old can be vaccinated with Pfizer with the consent of their parents or guardians.

By mid-September, 1.214 million doses of Pfizer / BioNTech coronavirus vaccine were delivered to Uzbekistan from the United States.

In late May, the European Medicines Agency also approved the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine for adolescents over 12 years of age.
