WHO Ukraine, alongside the European Observatory, launches a study to explore sustainable financing models for rehabilitation services, aiming to strengthen Ukraine’s healthcare system amidst growing demand for rehabilitation care.
In a new collaborative effort, WHO Ukraine, the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, and the WHO Barcelona Office for Health Systems Financing have launched a study to strengthen the financing of rehabilitation services in Ukraine. The research aims to map the landscape of rehabilitation services across several European countries and develop policy recommendations to help Ukraine integrate and finance these services effectively within its healthcare system.
The study, focusing on patient pathways, coverage, eligibility, and service purchasing mechanisms, aims to support Ukraine’s health reforms, particularly after the increase in rehabilitation needs following the ongoing conflict. The findings will also inform European and global strategies to ensure that rehabilitation is a fundamental, adequately financed component of national health systems.
The research is set to culminate in a Policy Dialogue in Kyiv on November 22, 2024, where key stakeholders will discuss the findings and explore policy options for sustainable rehabilitation services in Ukraine.
