On November sixth P4HC+ facilitated a workshop on achieving universal health coverage with equity with researchers from the University of New South Wales, the Cambodian National Institute of Public Health, GIZ, Khon Kaen University, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the George Institute for Global Health. During the workshop the findings from researches funded by the Australian Research Council and implemented by the aforementioned institutions were presented. These included results from a survey of 5,000 households on health care seeking behaviour, out-of-pocket expenditures and distress financing; a benefit-incidence analysis; a financing-incidence assessment and an overview in trends of catastrophic and impoverishing health expenses during the period 2004-14. The event was well attended by a mix of representatives of various ministries and development partners as well as researchers. During the afternoon a lively roundtable session was held regarding the implications of the study findings, how they may advance policymaking and equity in Cambodia and the needs for further studies.
