The recent floods affecting certain regions of Cameroon have prompted the authorities to look into the issue of climate change and social protection in health. To this end, and in partnership with GIZ, the Ministry of Health is organizing a workshop on November 14 and 15 in Douala.
The Universal Health Coverage (UHC) development strategy has identified climate change as an important determinant in achieving its objectives in Cameroon.
In view of the importance of this issue, and taking into account the recent floods in the Far North, West and South-West regions, the Ministry of Health has begun to reflect on the impact that climate change could have on the provision of healthcare and health services to the population. These discussions will begin with a capacity-building workshop for stakeholders, and will focus on the issue of climate change, its impact on health financing, and proposals for action to mitigate risks and achieve the objectives of the CSU in Cameroon.
The workshop will take place on November 14 and 15, 2024 in Douala, and will be attended by a number of experts from the Ministry of Health, Finance and the Environment, as well as technical and financial partners.
