From November 10 to 12, 2021, some forty national players involved in health financing and social protection in Burundi met in the political capital Gitéga. The work was divided into two sequences. First, consolidation of data and analysis of strengths and weaknesses to identify challenges; then discussion of possible strategic options for universal health coverage in Burundi. The Assistant to the Minister of Public Health and the WHO Representative, in their introductory remarks, encouraged stakeholders to work together to advance the CSU presidential agenda in Burundi. Several sectors, including health, social protection, finance, programs and development partners, took part in this work, which had the merit of a good exchange between the players and greater openness to participative collaboration.
