World Bank Technical Review Mission 22-25 July 2013

The World Bank informs the MoH that a technical mission will be visiting Kenya during July 22-25, 2013.

WB: “The proposed mission will focus on key health financing reforms in the light of the recent policies on abolition of user fee and free maternity care, and support for the finalization of health financing strategy.  Following the discussion we had with the Cabinet Secretary,  we are proposing this mission during July 22-25.  We would like this mission to build on the earlier joint P4H mission and we are pleased to inform you that Netsanet Workie who represented the Bank in P4H mission will be joining us along with Mr. Abdo Yazbeck Lead Economist who has strong expertise in the area of health financing and equity.

Specifically, the proposed mission will  (a) follow-up with you and other key stakeholders on the progress made on the health financing strategy development including the background studies on fiscal space and efficiency of ongoing services; (b) discuss proposed next steps for finalization of health financing strategy and  areas for Bank support;  and (c) develop key themes and identify potential speakers for the proposed high level forum planned during the latter half of September 2013.”

Proposed agenda: meeting with the MoH core team on July 22; a round table with key stakeholders or ICC; meetings with all P4H partners; NHIF and other key partners working on health financing reforms.

On 22 July 2013, the MOH (Mr. Nzoya) invites selected stakeholders (including WHO, GIZ, KfW, WB, USAID, Futures Group, NHIF, KEMSA, AMREF, etc.) to participate in a brainstorming meeting scheduled on 25 Jul 2013. The discussions will be organized around “the future of health care financing in Kenya with a view to moving towards Universal Health Coverage.  The outputs from this meeting will inform discussions for the upcoming World Bank Technical Review mission on 25/7/2013.
