Nepal is a P4H partner country. P4H has been involved in discussions on national health insurance development plan, institutional set-ups and costing of essential health service package. The government of Nepal promotes national health insurance at higher political level to address health financing issues and concerns such as high out-of-pocket payments and need for financial protection. Currently, Nepal actively participates in regional health financing events such as SEARO-WPRO Bi-regional Health Financing Policy Workshops held in 2016 and 2017. These regional events aimed to enhance knowledge and best practices on health financing and social protection reforms and discuss technical and policy issues and options for countries to make progress towards UHC. Nepal firmly supports P4H platform for Asian countries to facilitate country specific policy and technical discussions on health financing and social protection reforms and best practices in the regional context and learn from each other.
