The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the relevance of ensuring universal access to health care services and adequate social protection guarantees. Public\u00a0sector domestic resources for health rose by 20% between 2019 and 2020, from MZN 19.9 million to MZN 23.9 million (approximately\u00a0327 million euros). This increase was realized despite falling tax revenues.<\/p>\n The P4H country focal person (P4H-CFP)\u00a0in Mozambique, Cristina Manzanares, contributed to talks\u00a0among national directors of budget and economic policy on prioritizing Mozambique\u2019s health sector in the state budget. In addition to her work with government officials, she works in close collaboration with partners including the World Health Organization and the Global Financing Facility for Women, Children and Adolescents.<\/p>\n Cristina developed and organized a training series in 2020 and 2021 that proved to be a highly relevant forum for government officials during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants benefited from presentations on HF and SHP for UHC. Topics covered public financing, financial protection, equity in financing, and equity in resource distribution.
