Public spending on health in 2020 represented <a href=\"https:\/\/hia.paho.org\/en\/countries-2022\/cuba-country-profile\">11.37% of GDP,<\/a> above the 6% the Pan American Health Organization recommends, and <a href=\"https:\/\/hia.paho.org\/en\/countries-2022\/cuba-country-profile\">16.43% of total public expenditure<\/a>.
